And the winner is…
As part of Frightarama 2014, we issued a challenge to local designers to create a poster to compliment our official design. We received a raft of great designs, but one poster nudged its way through to become the first Frightarama poster competition champion.
About the winner
Paul Banks (aka “Banksie – no, not that Banksy”) has been a graphic designer for 14 years and learnt his craft in the vast, open-plan offices of some of the country’s largest newspaper & magazine publishers. These days he works freelance under the guise of Peril Design, and specialises in designing promotional materials for comedy, film, music and the creative arts in general, winning not only the 2014 Frightarama poster competition, but also the inaugural Best Poster award at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival in February 2015. His comedy posters can regularly be seen papering the walls of Leicester’s most popular venues, as well at the Manchester and Edinburgh Fringe festivals, and he was overjoyed to be recently commissioned to create the 16-page brochure for the 2015 Short Cinema festival at Phoenix.
