VH YES! BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA – VHS SCREENING AND QUIZ

For the 2015 Scalarama festival, The Social Cinema returned to curate an evening celebrating the 40th birthday of the analogue majesty of VHS. Bulky, temperamental and utterly distinctive, the humble video was the format on which many of us saw our first films and is now as much a part of film history as celluloid itself.
To help us celebrate we dusted off the Phoenix Film Quiz for a one-off quiz dedicated to cult film, video nasties and all things VHS. There was also be a very special VHS screening of John Carpenter’s cult classic Big Trouble In Little China, complete with FBI warnings, classic idents and all those trailers you loved. Not only that, but we transformed the Phoenix Cinema into a video store paradise where there was a video exchange, classic VHS era retro games and special drinks offers throughout the night.
