Blue Velvet

Blue Velvet

“...I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.”

In celebration of the great director’s 66th birthday and The Social Cinema’s 6-month anniversary,  we hosted a devilish night dedicated to all things Lynchian. With Lynch’s trademark 50’s stylisation and noir leanings, Blue Velvet showed what lurks behind the white picket-fence when you peel away the wholesome veneer of the American Dream; and with Dennis Hopper at his fevered, maniacal best as Frank Booth created a wholly different movie monster. In true Social Cinema style there was a specially themed food and drinks menu, prizes for dressing as your favourite Lynch character, DJs playing a dreamy and heavenly mix of music as well as a late bar and some damn fine coffee!
