Phantom of the Paradise

My music is for Phoenix. Only she can sing it. Anyone else who tries, dies!

Before he updated the classical Hollywood with Scarface and revered it with The Untouchables, Brian De Palma unleashed a masterpiece of a different kind in the shape of Phantom of the Paradise. Combining elements of Faust, Phantom of the Opera and The Picture of Dorian Gray, De Palma’s horror/comedy rock musical tells the story of a disfigured composer fighting to save his music and the woman he loves from the evil record producer who betrayed him. With its Oscar nominated score and glorious glam rock visuals, Phantom of the Paradise is a delightfully unhinged piece of cinematic decadence.
